What is the assessment process?

1) We have a virtual session with one / all parents/caregivers to get a full picture of you / your child’s medical and developmental history – up to 90 minutes.

2) We do an in-person appointment where the physical assessment pieces happen (gross motor skills, reflexes, sensory reactions, oral-motor assessment, fine motor assessment, etc) – up to 60 minutes depending on the child’s tolerance.

3) If all of the assessment gets completed in 2 sessions, we meet again virtually to go over the assessment results (usually 60 minutes).

How do goals get set?

Therapist and parent(s) collaboratively set goals for therapy, based on the assessment results and your priorities.

Do I get a written report?

Assessment reports are written at parental request. Not every child requires a report and this can be determined with you based on your needs. Reports are written at the Therapist’s hourly rate.

  • Physician clinical letters are available upon request for a set fee.
  • Equipment recommendations are available upon request for a set fee.

What happens during treatment?

Do I come into the treatment room with my child for therapy?

99% of the time parents are directly involved in their child’s Occupational Therapy sessions so that you see strategies and your child’s response on the spot, not described after the fact.

You also get to practice with the Therapist’s guidance in the moment, and learn why certain strategies are used.

Parents are only out of the room by choice, when they determine their child will do better without them there, on a case-by-case basis.

How long are OT sessions?

Each therapy session is tailored specifically for you and your child and can go from 30 to 60 minutes in length. Jennifer is responsive to each child and their tolerance that day. You will only be charged for the time your child spends with Jennifer.

How often do I come see you? For how long?

PossibilOT does not have set treatment lengths, because Jennifer believes each child needs a personalized plan. We determine together, based on your family’s routine, your financial needs, and the issues your child is dealing with, how often you come and for how long.

We do not string people along – Jennifer hopes to do such a good job that she works her way out of a job!

Do you have direct billing?

PossibilOT does not currently have a direct billing option. You receive a receipt via email, which you can upload to your insurance portal.

This may change in the future, should there be sufficient client need.
