Assessment
To know how best to help you, an individualized and detailed assessment is carried out. Jennifer uses a combination of standardized and non-standardized tools to get to the root of the issue.
Intake, questionairres, interview, observation and direct testing occur during assessment . One or more sessions may be needed based on your child’s needs.
Treatment
Treatment is individualized for each client and is based on Jennifer’s years of clinical experience. Jennifer uses several frames of reference that inform her approach. She views the child as a whole person, in relation to their family unit, and uses physical, cognitive, neurological, socio-emotional, sensory and theories of attachment to inform how she examines and treats the child.
Education & Support
“When you know better, you do better.”
Jennifer helps families reframe a child’s behaviour or difficulties from a different perspective and helps parents figure out what they don’t know and then learn from it.
However, without support most of us cannot make changes we need to make. Jennifer understands that families of children with special needs are often under a great deal of stress and makes sure each family she serves knows they are important and listened to.

What happens during OT?
As a pediatric Occupational Therapist, I use play to get to know and engage your child. Different types of activities allow me to observe the skills you have asked me to help you with. You will often find me sitting or lying on the floor with your kiddo playing and being silly!
During assessment I review your intake form and ask more questions. Informed consent is obtained, we review the privacy policies and I get to know your child and your family. You get to tell your story. After testing is complete, we set goals for therapy together.
During follow up sessions we PLAY!
Using play, we work on the skills and goals identified. Treatment intervention involves identifying, trying and practicing strategies that improve a child’s skill in a play-based manner. Parents/caregivers are involved and taught these strategies and OT Homework is practiced at home.
